How Can We Help?
Helping Persons Experiencing Homelessness Find & Claim Property
Unclaimed Property
There are billions of dollars worth of unclaimed property in the US, such as refunds, security deposits, insurance payments, and more. These resources become “unclaimed” when financial institutions or companies can’t reach the owner and there has been no account activity for a year or more. When property goes unclaimed, it is turned over to the state. Even then, the rightful owner can do a search to find any property that may belong to them and work with the state to obtain their property.
This resource can be a huge benefit to persons experiencing homelessness who often do not have steady addresses at which to receive important mail. Visit unclaimed.org to access a network of state treasury departments to find out if you have unclaimed property, or help others!
